Paulus (2002) completed a random controlled trial (RCT) where acupuncture was given pre and post egg transfer.
One group had acupuncture and the other usual care. The acupuncture group had a 40% greater outcome than the control in positive embryo transfers and live births.
In 2008 a Cochrane Systemic review (Cheong Y. Hung U.Ng E. Ledger W.) concluded that acupuncture may improve pregnancy rates with IVT treatment.
The British Medical Journal (BMJ) published a review and concluded that “acupuncture given with embryo transfer, improves rates of pregnancy and live births among women undergoing in-vitro fertilisation.”
